The Cannon County Sheriff's Department received reports of various items reported stolen or missing during the past week.

• Jefferery McManhan of 3386 McMahan Road, Woodbury, reported the theft of over $1,000 worth of items from a shed behind a rental home he owns. The crime apparently took place Christmas Day. Missing merchandise includes a 1977 Suzuki motorcycle, 18 foot extension ladder, a John Deere pedal tractor, drop cord, a red belt driven air compressor, and two electric scooters. Deputy Bryson responded to this call on Dec. 28 and after conducting an investigation and writing the reported, sent a copy to the Cannon County 911 Call Center so that the property could be enter as stolen in NCIC.

• A Brentwood man who owns a farm at 829 Mockingbird Lane, Woodbury, went to the Sheriff's Department on Dec. 28 to report a missing Black Angus Bull. Greg Davis stated the last time he saw the bull was Dec. 24. He said it was missing when he awoke the morning of the 25th.

Davis stated his cows had escaped the day before and gone to another farm owned by his father at the time. He advised he was able to get the cows back in and repair the fence. But later that night a severe storm came through and he has not seen the bull since. He said he checked all the neighboring farms but was unsuccessful in his hunt.

The bull was purchased for $900, said. He wanted a report for a record of the missing animal.

• James Craddock of 4892 Short Mountain Road reported his home had been burglarized on Dec. 28 upon returning home from a holiday vacation with his wife. Missing are diamond earrings in a jewelry box valued at $1000 and several items of sentimental value. Deputy Tommy Barker and Deputy Reed Bryson investigated the incident.

• Deputy Tommy Barker was dispatched to 2098 Frank Holt Road, Woodbury, on Dec. 23. He spoke with the property owner, L.D. Agee of Murfreesboro, who reported that his farm tractor and bush hog were missing. The tractor was valued at approximately $13,000 and the bush hog $700.

Gary Burdick said he was at the residence hunting on Dec. 19 and the tractor and bush hog were both in the barn on that date at around 10:30 a.m. Burdick said the gate and barn doors were open. Agee said the gate is never locked. Barker and Deputy Reed Bryson attempted to obtain fingerprints but were unable to get the powder to stick. The information about the missing equipment was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system on Dec. 28.

• On Dec. 27 Deputy Randy Neal was dispatched to 419 Cummings Hollow Road, Woodbury, on a dispute between two subjects. Upon arrival he was met by James McNeil who stated that Emily Martin owed him money on a horse that he was boarding for Martin. Neal spoke with Martin, who stated that she owed McNeil seven dollars for hay, and she did not know she owed him anything else. Martin stated she went to the McNeil residence to brush and comb her horse and to just mess around with her horse for a little bit, and McNeil stated he didn't want her there because she owed him $100 for feed. McNeil agreed to let Martin pick up her horse on Tuesday, Dec. 29 and pay him the $100 she owes him. Martin did not want to press any charges against McNeil, she just wanted to dissolve the oral agreement between the two parties.

• Deputy Reed Bryson was dispatched to 2220 Short Mountain Road, Woodbury, on Dec. 28 on a theft call. He was informed by Lorene Walker that for approximately six months she has had different items come up missing. The first thing she noticed was that her vehicle was almost empty of gas while sitting in her driveway after she had a half a tank in it. Then she noticed that six rolls of toilet paper were missing. She also discovered $150 was missing from her purse. Byson advised her on safety precautions and advised he would respond to any further incidents.

• Deputy Tommy Barker along with Deputy Bryson was dispatched to 440 Talbert Road, Morrison, on Dec. 28 in reference to a motion alarm being set off. Upon arrival they searched the residence and did not find anyone inside. The door leading into the second story of the residence had all the glass broken out. After clearing the residence they spoke with the property owner, Cynthia Boals, who stated that other than the door being broken there was nothing missing that she could tell at the time. She said it was the second time in two months she had experienced a break-in.

• Deputies Steve McMillan and Brandon Mims charged Frankie Lee Edwards, 102 Stewart Drive, Smyrna, with domestic assault, evading arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia after being dispatched to a report of a verbal domestic assault on Dec. 26.

Upon arrival at the home on Hopewell Road Deputy Mims went to the side door of the residence, and McMillan to the front door. During that time the alleged suspect apparently ran out the back door.

After an initial search the deputies returned to the home and spoke with the victim, who stated her and Edwards started arguing after she found his sex offender card in his wallet. At that point she asked Edwards to leave and he said he wouldn't. She said Edwards told her he would kill her before he left. She said they then wrestled in the hallway and the suspect was holding her down on the floor against her will.

The deputies learned from the victim that Edwards was friends with a next door neighbor. After a lengthy search of the area they found the suspect in a garage. He was lying on a mattress with a blanket over him. Edwards was taken to the patrol unit and read his rights. He refused to give a statement and was booked at the jail.

• Deputy Randy Neal was dispatched to Higgins Flea Market on Dec. 27 to investigate a complaint of harassment. Upon arrival he met Ashly Tinker, who stated that she was being harassed by Bill Pittman. Tinker stated that Pittman was saying obscene and provocative comments to her. Tinker also stated that Pittman acted like he was shooting her by pointing her finger at her like it was a gun.

Tinker did not want to take out a warrant against Pittman because she said he was mean and did not want trouble, she only wanted him to leave her alone.

Pittman was not at the flea market at the time Deputy Neal was speaking with Tinker, and he was unable to speak with Pittman about the matter.

• Deputy Brandon Gullett was dispatched to 3860 Sycamore Creek Road, Woodbury, on Christmas Day to take a report of goats being in a yard. Upon arrival he was met by James Seamans, who stated that the neighbor's goats had been in his yard several times on this date and in the past. Seamans said the goats belonged to a neighbor who had passed away a few weeks ago.

Gullett then went to 3706 Sycamore Creek Road and spoke with Jeremy Hugh Mahaffa, who stated he was the overseer of the property since his family member had died. Gullett advised Mahaffa he needed to keep the goats inside his fence, to which he stated the goats were in the barn and were going to stay there until he could sell them.

• Deputies Fann and Mims went to 72 Pinewood Lane in Woodbury on Dec. 24 to respond to a report of a prowler at 1:50 a.m. Once there they were told by Joe Rogers that he heard his dog barking and when he got up and looked out his bedroom window he saw a man in dark clothing walking by his garage door. Rogers said he went and got his shotgun and stepped out the back door of his bedroom and fired two shots.

The deputies searched the premises but were unable to find any signs of a prowler.

• Deputy Reed Bryson was dispatched to 630 Sycamore Creek Road, Woodbury, on Dec. 23 in reference to a report of harassing phone calls. Sherry Stephens stated that a female subject had called and asked for Amanda, and when Stephens advised the caller she was no Amanda the caller stated, "We're coming to get you bitch."

Stephens said she received two calls from the same person. The first time they just hung up when she answered. Stephens said she wanted to file harassment charges, but was unable to identify the caller. She was advised that if she received another threatening call to try to ascertain who the person was and then she could speak with a judicial commissioner about filing charges.

• Deputy Tommy Barker took a report on Dec. 23 at the Cannon County Sheriff's Dept. from Michael Baxter and Eden Taylor. They stated that since November of 2008 Bradley James (B.J.) Durham of Readyville has been harassing them both every time they go to town. Baxter and Taylor also stated that Durham made hand gestures as if he was holding a gun and shooting them. Both were advised by Deputy Barker to report any future incidents to the sheriff's department.

• Deputy Tommy Barker took a report of a harassment complaint at the sheriff's department on Dec. 23 from Timothy Fabri, who stated that Richard Butcher came to his house on Oct. 15 or 16 and physically assaulted him. Fabri also stated that Butcher has been driving by his home and slamming on the brakes and yelling at him. Fabri was advised to contact the sheriff's department is Butcher comes on his property and also to report any future assaults that may occur.
