Husband/wife team wins honors
Staff By Colonel Jim Stone The Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 is proud to announce that Legionnaire Martin Tocholke has been elected as the Legionnaire of the Year 2014 for American Legion Post 279, in Woodbury, Tennessee. Martin has served as an elected member of the Executive Board of Directors and currently serves as the Financial Officer for the Post. Martin is an outstanding Legionnaire in every respect. He is a team player who volunteers for every task that comes up. He is a true Legionnaire who has the interest of the Post always as first priority. No job is too big or too small, he is always there to do his part and more. Ronjie Tocholke (Martin's wife) has been elected as the Auxiliary Unit 279 Member of the Year 2014. This truly outstanding lady goes above and beyond the call to duty when supporting the Auxiliary Unit 279, and the American Legion Post 279. Ronjie serves as Auxiliary Unit Secretary. She also serves as the Photographer for the American Legion Post 279 and Auxiliary Unit 279. Ronjie has served in every position in the Auxiliary Unit to insure things run smoothly. Ronjie plays a big part in the planning and execution of the dinner meals that are served at the monthly Post meetings. Martin and Ronjie Tocholke, a true husband/wife team are to be commended for their truly outstanding service they provide to the American Legion Post 279 and the Auxiliary Unit 279. Woodbury and Cannon County can be proud of this husband/wife team who truly go above and beyond to support our community, our youth, and our Veterans. They both have been instrumental in the success of our CCHS Scholarship Program, the Boys State and Girls State Programs, the Oratorical Program, The Annual Fishing Rodeo, Patriot Day honoring the victims of 9/11, honoring the outstanding employees of the County and City, the Kansas City Bar-B-Que Cookoff Contest, our Flag Sales Project, The Auxiliary's Patriotic Cookbook Project, and our monthly visits with the Veterans in the local Nursing Home. Martin and Ronjie are the type team players that produce winning teams. They are both hard workers and will step up to take any task on that needs to be accomplished. They will not back down from any challenge. Because of Martin's and Ronjie's desire to serve, American Legion Post 279 has been truly successful in their first four years since being chartered as the first new Post in the State of Tennessee in over twenty years.
