Hurricane Creek Water Line Work To Begin Soon

The Auburntown City Council met Tuesday, December 1, 2009 for their regular monthly meeting. The Mayor chaired the meeting with a full slate of Councilpersons present.

The minutes of last month’s (November) meeting were approved as presented by the City Recorder.

Each Councilperson was provided a detailed, printed, financial report for review. Following a few notes of explanation the report was approved as presented with a total of $42,915.46 on deposit.

The Mayor reported the contract to run utility water up Hurricane Creek Road was ready to be activated just as soon as a “Right to Work” letter is received from the State.

The Mayor said he wanted to publicly thank members of the local Lions Club and Tim Reed, in particular, for their help in repairing and putting up the City’s Christmas lights this year.

Chris Blackburn, Fire Chief, attended the meeting and gave a short update about what was happening in the Fire Dept. He wanted to reiterate again that the Fire Dept. was foregoing their December Fish and Chicken Fry this year. However, he was expecting to have the third Saturday Fish Fry as usual from January thru November in 2010. Although, the hours of service next year will be from 12 o’clock noon until 7:00 PM instead the previous closing time of 8:00 PM. Chief, Blackburn, expressed his gratitude to the Council for their support and wished each one and their family a Very Merry Christmas

The Mayor thanked the Council for their hard work and support given him and the City during the year. He and the Council then exchanged Christmas wishes for the upcoming Holiday season.

The meeting began at 6:00 PM and ended at 6:25 PM.
