Westside Elementary School principal Robert Sain, left, accepts a plaque from Cannon County Executive Mike Gannon Friday honoring the late Annie Cox, a long-time teacher in the county.

The plaque contains a copy of Resolution 2009-8, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners of Cannon County on July 18, 2009, and reads:

Honoring the Memory of Ms. Annie Cox of Cannon County

WHEREAS, Ms. Annie Cox was born February 15, 1923 and passed away July 6, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Annie Cox was a dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Friend to all, and

WHEREAS, Ms. Annie Cox was a true Christian, a woman of strong faith and devoted member of the Water Street Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Annie Cox taught School in Cannon County for over 60 years and had a positive influence on thousands of children; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Annie Cox attended games and supported youth sports and coached basketball at Westside Elementary School for many years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Board of Commissioners of Cannon County, meeting in regular session on this 18th Day of July, 2009, that we honor the memory of Ms. Annie Cox for her remarkable service to her beloved County, her enormous contribution to the Children of Cannon County and her kindness and commitment to the citizens of Cannon County.
