Hollis Charged With 8th DUI, 14th DORL Offenses

A Woodbury man is facing multiple charges following an incident which took place on Feb. 4.

Donald Tracy Hollis, 223 Hayes St., has been charged with DUI 8th Offense, Driving While License Revoked 14th Offense, Leaving The Scene Of A Property Damage Accident, Reckless Endangerment, Felony Evading Arrest By A Motor Vehicle and Felony Driving A Vehicle As A Habitual Motor Vehicle Offender.

According to five arrest warrants obtained by Woodbury Assistant Police Chief Kevin Mooneyham, Hollis allegedly struck two mailboxes while driving on Hayes St. and left the scene.

His vehicle was spotted on W. Lester St. with a flat tire. When Assistant Chief Mooneyham activated his emergency equipment to get Hollis to stop, he refused and sped up. He was chased to Locke Creek Rd. before he spun out of control and was stopped.

Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Turney stated in one arrest warrant that he responded to a mutual aid request from the Woodbury Police Department due to a vehicle pursuit. He was advised by Assistant Chief Mooneyham to block John Bragg Hwy. or Hollis Creek Rd. due to the pursuit.

Deputy Turney blocked the intersection at Hollis Creek when the Hollis’ vehicle was rapidly approaching him and his patrol unit. Hollis did not stop after being commanded to do so at gunpoint and attempt to ram Deputy Turney’s vehicle.

For safety concerns, Hollis was not subjected to field sobriety tests. A mandatory blood test was done due to his prior DUI convictions.

A total bond of $27,000 was set for Hollis. His initial court date is March 13.
