Historical Society to meet on Nov. 12

The Cannon County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, November 12, 2019, 7:00PM at the Senior Citizens Center, 609 Lehman Street. Refreshments start at 6:30 PM--come early and bring along a favorite dish and join in. Look for the Cannon County Historical Society sign at the front entrance.

Andrew McMahan, Assistant Archivist at the State Library, Nashville, will be our guest speaker. The name McMahan is associated with the first pioneer settlers along the upper headwaters of the Barren Fork River, the southeastern boundary between Warren and Cannon Counties. The area is still referred to as the McMahan community. Andrew's program will cover the extensive collections at the Tennessee State Library and Archives with emphasis placed on Cannon Countians in World War II.
