Hazelwood To Lead Webb Development Team

HAZELWOOD
Claudia M. Hazelwood is the new director of development at The Webb School in Bell Buckle. Her position as the head of the Alumni and Development Department officially begins with the 2010-2011 school year.

Hazelwood comes to Webb with more than 26 years of development and alumni relations’ experience. The bulk of her career was spent at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. In her most recent position at Vanderbilt, executive director of the Parents and Grandparents Campaign and Parents and Family Programs for the university’s four undergraduate schools, Hazelwood led a 2009 campaign that raised $12.4 million in gifts.

“We are excited to have Claudia join our development team at Webb,” said Interim Head of School Gordon E. Bondurant. “She brings with her a wealth of experience, and as the parent of a Webb alumna (Whitney ’99), she understands and is passionate about our mission of producing accurate scholars with strong moral character.”

Hazelwood holds a master’s degree in teaching from Vanderbilt and a bachelor’s degree in history. She and her husband, David, own and operate the Parish Patch Farm & Inn, Cortner Mill Restaurant and Whitney Chapel in Normandy, Tenn.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to be a part of The Webb School, which I have admired for many years,” said Hazelwood. “Webb’s strong academic reputation and welcoming community attracted my husband, David, and me as prospective parents, when we moved with Whitney to Bedford County in 1992. Building on its rich traditions and strengths, I look forward to partnering with Webb’s incoming head of school, Ray Broadhead, faculty and staff, the Board of Trust, and our alumni and parents to continue Webb’s progress and make the next leap forward.”

The Webb School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit day/boarding, college-preparatory school for grades 6-12. For more information visit: www.thewebbschool.com.
