Silver Sneakers
The Silver Sneakers fitness program is the nation's leading exercise program designed exclusively for older adults. Classes are offered weekly, and regardless of fitness level, seniors can improve overall strength, flexibility, and balance.
This class will begin at 4:30 on Tuesday nights starting in February. The exercise room will be open from 4:30 until 6:00. We have treadmills, Vie-fits, a PhysioStep, Stair Stepper, Uniersal Gym and an Ab-Torso machine for use by our members.

VITA Tax Assistance Program
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a free service that aids qualifying seniors in claiming their tax refund dollars. The 2015 VITA program is available to any household with an annual income of $58,000 or less. United Way Volunteers will be at the Senior Center on February 11, March 4 and March 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.


Valentine's Day Party
On Friday, February 13th we will provide Valentine's Day Cake and punch after lunch! Join us for a fun time and bring a picture of you with your sweetheart for the "Guess Who?" game. We will display the pictures and give people a chance to guess who they are! This can be a picture of you with your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, grandkids, family members or pets.

Music Night Feb. 20th
Lost in Tyme on Feb. 20th. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Music starts at 7:00. Admission is $5.00.

Black History Month
Popcorn and a Movie
February 24 - In honor of Black History Month, we will be showing the film "The Long Walk Home." This film is about Mrs. Miriam Thompson (Sissy Spacek) who finds herself in the middle of a Ciil Rights revolution when she helps her maid (Whoopi Goldberg), during the infamous bus boycott of the 1950's.

Soup/Sandwich Day February 25

DAY TRIP TO OAKLANDS MANSION
Make plans to visit "Wedding Dresses Through the Decades" on Friday, March 6. You will travel through time from the brocade and silk of the mid 1800's to the stories and suits of the wartime brides in the 1940's. Witness the changes in fashion from different areas, eras and cultures as we transcend time to the modern day bride. Cost is $20.00 for admission to exhibit and travel to Murfreesboro. Lunch is on your own at the historic City Cafe on the square in Murfreesboro. We will leave at 9:30 and be back at approximately 3:0. Sign up in office with Stevi.


Recipe of the Month

Chocolate Cobbler
1 cup flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1 1/3 c. hot water

In bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and 2 T cocoa.
Stir in milk and oil until smooth. Pour into a greased 8 inch square baking pan.
Combine brown sugar and the 1/2 c. cocoa. Sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over the top (DO NOT STIR).
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.
This cake makes its own chcolate sauce.
