COOKEVILLE - Cannon County saw its boys golf season come to an end at the District 8-A/AA Tournament in Cookeville last week.

The Lions finished seventh overall with a young squad in 2012.

Freshman Briar Jakes led the Lions with a 95. He rallied from a 50 on his first nine holes and finished with a 45. Jakes missed a portion of the season with an eye injury but came back to provide a preview of things to come for the solid player.

Sophomore Jacob Nave also came on strong down the stretch and will be a solid player the next two seasons. Nave and freshman Hunter Vickers tied for second on the Lions squad with a 103 at the district tournament.

William Parker finished with a 107 and Josh Ruehlen posted a 111 for the Lions.
