Go Early, Beat The Heat At Farmers' Market Saturday
Thursday, June 28, 2012 4:12 am Green beans, sweet corn, a few tomatoes and okra are available at the Cannon County Farmers Market. For those looking for locally grown farm fresh vegetables, drop by the CCFM this Saturday, June 30rd for a great selection of fruits, vegetables and baked goods. The market is just beginning, so each week you will be able to find a broader selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Pam Northcutt with “Pies De Vine” will be at the market with her homemade fried pies. She plans to have a wide selection including apple, blueberry, blackberry, butterscotch, chocolate, peach, pecan, coconut and cherry. Best way to get the best selection is to come early! Due to the amount of produce maturing from the market, it’s hard to wait to Saturday. So on Tuesday’s from 3:00 P.M. until 6 P.M., producers will be at the Market with fresh fruits and vegetables. A great opportunity to pick up fresh onions, tomatoes, sweet corn and squash for a locally grown, refreshing meal. My favorite squash dish is slice squash and okra breaded and fried with onions, give it a try I think you will like it as well.
