Glenn Lee Hughes was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world suddenly on Nov. 19, 2020, at age 68.

He was born to Douglas and Therese Hughes on Feb. 26, 1952, in Miami, Florida. In his younger years, Glenn was a bull rider in Florida. He followed his parents to Tennessee, where he met his wife of 44 years, Colleen. Together they had two daughters: Jodie Boaz and Lindsay Bertling.

In his lifetime, Glenn wore many hats. He was a cowboy, construction worker, truck driver and farmer. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was kind, honest and loyal.

He was his wife's and daughters' hero. He was quick to lend a helping hand - a good neighbor who never met a stranger. His kindness and mischievious ways always left others with a smile. His family was his whole world.

He loved to spend time with his three grandchildren who adored him and called him "Poppy." They loved nothing more than catching a tractor ride with Poppy or going with him to feed the cows. Glenn loved having his family around him, whether it was at the beach on the coast of South Carolina, in the Smoky Mountains or at his farm in Auburntown.

He is survived by his wife Colleen Hughes; his two daughters, Jodie (Troy) Boaz and Lindsay (Brad) Bertling. Also his grandchildren Austyn and Walker Bertling and Jake Boaz, as well as his brother Ken Hughes and sister Laurie Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mindy Hughes.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, in the Arnett Education Building at the Wilson County Fairgrounds, 945 E. Baddour Pwky, Lebanon, TN 37087, with David Dunn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor by check to the Tennessee High School Rodeo Association (TNHSRA), 117 Pond Circle Road, Dickson, TN 37055.
