Garnett Wayne Smartt

Garnett Wayne Smartt, age 77, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at his home in Bradyville, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family. He was a farmer; a retired Truck Driver with the Bryan Oil Company; a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Baptist Church. He will be fondly remembered as one who loved farming, gardening and wood working.

Mr. Smartt was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Deana Hope Smartt; parents, Garnett Melvin Smartt and Mattie Belle Dyer Smartt; sisters, Willie Fiske, Johnnie Creek and Veola Collins; and brothers, James Smartt and Dewey Smartt.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Loretta Bowen Smartt of Bradyville, TN; daughter, Lisa L. Sissom and her husband Wade of Bradyville; son, Paul E. Smartt and his wife Manissa of Bradyville; brother, Carl Smartt (Faye) of Tullahoma, TN; six grandchildren, Jennifer Joseph, David Joseph, Daniel Joseph, Samuel Sissom, Hannah Smartt and Rachel Smartt; three great-grandchildren, Colton Placek, Ayden Placek and Celestia Nadeau; sister-in-laws, Georgia Alexander of Elkhart, IN and Jean Smartt of Columbia, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service was on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brothers Timothy Smartt and Bobby Smartt officiating. Burial followed at the Ivy Bluff Cemetery in Cannon County, TN with Military Honors. Central Funeral Home of Manchester, TN was in charge of arrangements.
