5 applicants will be considered for the Cannon County Director of Schools position as the Cannon County Board Of Education reviewed the applications and resumes at a special called workshop Monday night.

Two of the candidates, Bonnie Patterson and Julie Vincent are local and currently work at the Schools Central Office.
One candidate, Dr. Thurman Tucker, recently worked for Cannon County Schools as an assistant principal before being hired as the principal for Cannon County Middle. Tucker resigned abruptly from the position before the first year began back in August.

Two other applicants , Christopher Davis, Deputy Superintendent Haywood County Schools and Vince Owens who has been an Assistant Director for Scott County Schools round up the five.

A new Director of Schools is expected to be in place by July 1st 2023 after current Director Of Schools William F. Curtis announced in December he was retiring after his current contract ends effective June 30th 2023.
