Cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The building was apparently unoccupied at the time of the fire, which started around 7:30 p.m.

Due to the fire possibly spreading to other buildings, two businesses next store to J.P. Fine Swine, the Melton Law Firm of Susan Melton and Joe's Place Restaurant, where cleared of most of their furnishings and files.

Firefighters had the fire mostly under control by shortly after 9 p.m. and were clearing smoke out of the building, but smoke was still coming out of the building

Scores of volunteers assisted in moving items out of the adjacent buildings.

The extent of the damage caused by the fire is not known at this time. George and Anna Pittman of J.P.'s Fine Swine were anxiously waiting and watching outside after being called to the scene from their home.
