Final Decision Made On Good Ole Days Backup Location

While organizers of the annual Good Ole Days of Cannon County still hold out hope that the Cannon County Courthouse Revitalization work will be completed in time to host the event there this year, they have made a final decision on a backup location if it is not.

Over the last few months Dillon Park, Brown-Spurlock Park and the Cannon County Fairgrounds have been considered as possible locations. Wednesday, the speculation was laid to rest.

"The final decision is the backup spot is Brown-Spurlock Park," Connie Rigsby, director of the Cannon County Senior Center, said.

Proceeds from Good Ole Days benefit the Cannon County Afterschool Programs and the Senior Citizens Center. The festival will be held on May 14-15.

"After much consideration the Spurlock Park will provide us with the most paved area, covered pavilion space, source of electric needed for the festival," Rigsby said. "If for any reason the square 'by a miracle' gets to a place that we would be able to have it there we will.

"We hope the community will support the festival at the backup site celebrating the fifth year that the festival has been brought back to life by the Cannon Co. Senior Center and REACH Program as there largest fundraiser of the year," Rigsby added. "The festival has always been about bringing the community together and we hope the move will just be a stepping stone to a more beautiful event next year when it returns to the square."

Events are being scheduled and plans for Brown-Spurlock Park layout are under consideration. For more information concerning the festival please contact Connie Rigsby at
