The Confederate Army of Tennessee occupied Murfreesboro for more than two months prior to the Battle of Stones River. On October 16-17, 2010, volunteers will give visitors to Stones River National Battlefield a glimpse of what life was like for those soldiers as the seasons passed and battle approached.

Join us in a recreation of winter quarters in Murfreesboro. Learn about the myriad of daily activities that made up a soldier’s life including the largest duty which was to practice their battle skills.

Saturday October 16, 2010

10 AM – Artillery Demonstration

11 AM – Cavalry Demonstration

12 PM – Infantry Demonstration

1 PM – Artillery Demonstration

2 PM – Cavalry Demonstration

3 PM – Infantry Demonstration

Sunday October 17, 2010

11 AM – Artillery Demonstration

11:30 AM – Cavalry Demonstration

12 PM – Infantry Demonstration

1 PM – Artillery Demonstration

1:30 PM – Cavalry Demonstration

2 PM – Infantry Demonstration

These programs are a part of a series of interpretive programs offered at the battlefield during the year.  Stones River National Battlefield is located on the Old Nashville Highway northwest of Murfreesboro.
