Even a safe is not safe: $17,790 in cash, jewelry stolen

Cannon County Sheriff's Deputy Tyl Shawyer was dispatched to an address on Jim Cummings Hwy. on Jan. 26 in reference to a safe which had been stolen.

The complainant advised she had gone to an appointment and when she returned she noticed the safe was no longer in its usual place. She said she searched her house but was unable to locate the safe.

The complainant said she had last seen the safe the previous day and that several people had come and gone from the house in the time period when the safe was last seen.

The following items and their estimated value were reported as contained within the safe: A burgundy wallet ($50), tennis bracelet ($100), cluster ring ($300), 1978 class ring ($500), square ring ($1,000), round cluster ring ($800), white gold band ring with green stone ($40) and $15,000 cash.

Total approximated value of the items taken is $17,790.

Other items inside the safe included various legal documents and medication.
The case remains under investigation.
