District Game Postponed. District 8-AA Regular Season Teams Announced

The opening round game of the District 8-AA basketball tournament between Cannon and Watertown has been postponed due to weather. Officials will discuss Tuesday morning the make-up plans for the game.
The Upperman Bees took top honors in the recent coaches meeting at the end of the regular season as post player and Freed Hardiman college signee Alex Rush was named the player of the year in the boys division.
Upperman finished in first place in the regular season standings with a 13-1 record, 20-4 overall. Head Coach Bobby McWilliams was named Coach Of The Year.
Four Cannon County Lions received all district regular season honors.
Gus Davenport landed on the all district 1st team. Davenport joins Collin Gore from Upperman, Livingston's Matthew Sells, and York's Riley Cooper and Nick Smith on the team.
Lavell Rogers was named to the all district 3rd team. Freshman A.J. Armstrong was given honorable mention and was named to the all freshman team as was teammate Theo Winters who had a strong second half of the season.
Cannon County is scheduled to open the first round at home as the fifth seeded Lions host the eighth seeded Macon County Tigers. Game time is set for 7p weather permitting.

Miss Basketball finalist and Tennessee Tech signee Regan Hurst beat out another Miss Basketball finalist and MTSU signee Jaylynn Gregory for MVP of the regular season. Gregory may have had the last laugh though as Macon County spoiled Upperman's attempt at an undefeated season by winning the regular season finale 62-57 in Lafayette. Upperman finished 26-1 and 13-1 in first place in the final regular season standings. Upperman's Dana McWilliams was named coach of the year.
Cannon County's Shelby Smithson received honorable mention on the all district regular season list. Surprisingly, sophomore Bella Pelham was left off the list.
Gregory was named to the all district 1st team as was York's Haylee Johnson, Upperman's Brooklyn Crouch, Emma Christenson from Watertown, and Kaydee Ferrell from Dekalb
