Crash on Hwy. 146 kills Warren Co. man

A head-on crash Wednesday (Jan. 2) on Highway 146 in Cannon County killed a Warren County man, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The report of the crash by Trooper Richard Teachout indicates Freddie L. Eldridge, 36, of McMinnville, was driving southbound on Highway 146 at around 3:20 p.m. in a 2013 Honda Civic when he rounded a corner and his vehicle entered the northbound lane and collided with a 2012 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Melissa Stringer, 51, of Smithville.

Eldridge, who was unrestrained, had to be extricated from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

Stringer, who was wearing a seat belt, was injured and was treated at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury before being transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
