Cannon County Government is currently accepting proposals for the hauling of trash from its transfer station/convenience center to a landfill in Murfreesboro.

Currently the work is being performed by Pemberton Trucking. It's contract runs through Sept. 1.

With the help of three state grants, the county is in the process of making changes to the convenience center, some of which may impact the types of containers which are hauled to the landfill.

The county has placed the following advertisement in the May 29 edition of the Courier:

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL SOLID WASTE HAULING CANNON COUNTY

The Cannon County Solid Waste Department will be accepting proposals for the transportation of solid waste from the collection site on Alexander Drive, Woodbury, Tennessee to Allied Waste Middlepoint Landfill in Walter Hill, Tennessee. For a list of duties and responsibilities for which proposals are sought, contact the County Executive's Office, 200 W. Main St, Woodbury, TN 37190, (615) 563-2320.

Proposals will be accepted until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

The term shall extend from September 1, 2018 to completion of the construction and improvements to the Cannon County Convenience Center or 24 months from the date of a contract accepting a proposal, whichever occurs first.
