Mooretown Vol. Fire Department:
Due to the growing concern for the health and safety of those we have chosen to serve, help and protect we are going to cancel the fish and chicken fry that we had planned for April 4th. Our President Donald J. Trump has asked for gatherings of 10 or more to be cancelled for the next 8 weeks and we are most certain that with the support that we have there would be many more than that at our fry. It seems like bad weather and a potentially bad virus are intent on interfering with our fundraising efforts for this year but we are very persistent and very upbeat about the rest of the year. If you or someone you know needs anything during this trying time please feel free to contact me and we will do the best that we can to help in anyway. From children out of school needing food since there will be no free meals for the next 2 weeks to people with weakened immune systems and elderly needing supplies or medicine. My number is 615-542-0282. Chief - Micheal D. George

The Cannon County Senior Center is closed March 18th thru April 3rd. Music Night April 3rd has been cancelled.
The County 4-H Clover Bowl and Baking Contest was scheduled for later in March; however, with the coronavirus threat, this will be rescheduled for a later date. The worldwide outbreak of COVID-19 has now spread to Tennessee, and the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) is preparing for the possibility of disruption to the normal operations of our organization. This follows the UTIA COVID-19 Guideline: Meetings, events, and activities organized by UTIA which are open to the public and involve 50 or more participants will be rescheduled. With many students and parents which participate in the county contest, this will exceed 50 participants. We apologize for any confusion and disappointment, but our first obligation is for the health and safety of the youth in Cannon County. For more information, please contact the Cannon County Extension Office at 615-563-2554. We look forward to your participation at a later date!
