MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- With Black History Month winding down, there are only a few more days to take part in an experience that examines history through virtual reality.

The Makerspace on the second floor of the James E. Walker Library will continue its presentation of "I AM a Man" through Friday, March 1. The interactive virtual reality experience brings to life such important events as the 1968 sanitation workers' strike in Memphis and the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Using the Oculus Rift VR headset, participants will find themselves on the sidewalk with demonstrators wearing "I AM a Man" sandwich boards and at the Lorraine Motel on the day of King's assassination.

Viewers should be advised that simulated gunshots are part of the experience, which might make it too intense for some participants. For more on the experience, please visit iamamanvr.com.

This MTSU Black History Month event is free and open to the public.

Off-campus visitors should obtain a special one-day permit from MTSU's Office of Parking and Transportation at 1403 E. Main St. or online at http://www.mtsu.edu/parking/visit.php. A searchable campus parking map is available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParkingMap.

For more information, contact the Makerspace help desk at 615-904-8526 or Valerie Hackworth at 615-904-8545 or valerie.hackworth@mtsu.edu
