Charges Pending In Sunday Accident On Hwy. 53S

Charges are pending against one of the drivers involved in a two-vehicle crash on Jim Cummings Hwy. early Sunday morning, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Krissey Dodson, of Woodbury, was driving a 2004 Dodge Caravan north on the highway at around 4 a.m. Danny Jackson, of Auburntown, was driving south in an empty cargo box truck, according to the preliminary report filed by THP Trooper Gary Myers.

Near the Cannon County 911 Dispatch Center, Dodson failed to maintain control of her vehicle and crossed over the center line and into the southbound lane.

Jackson observed oncoming traffic and attempted to swerve off the road to avoid a collision. However, the two vehicles collided in a sideswipe manner.

Dodson’s vehicle then slid off the northbound side of State Route 53 (Jim Cummings Hwy.). Jackson’s vehicle flipped and came to rest across both lanes of travel.

Dodson sustained injuries in the accident and was life-flighted to Vanderbilt Hospital. A passenger in her vehicle, Michael Bennington of Woodbury, was not injured.

Jackson received minor injuries as a result of the accident.

A blood sample was obtained from Dodson and charges are pending based on the outcome of the toxicology report.

THP Headquarters is still waiting on a report of another accident in Cannon County which occurred late Saturday or early Sunday in which three men were injured in an accident on Short Mountain Rd. and life-flighted to Vanderbilt.
