There is a chance of severe thunderstorms this afternoon for all of Middle Tennessee, according to a statement from the National Weather Service Nashville office.

The greatest threat will be along and west of I- 65. After more rain this morning, storms will develop this afternoon and move into our area.

These storms will be capable of damaging straight line winds, a few tornadoes (one or two could be strong), and some isolated instances of hail to the size of quarters.

All of this will be on top of the flash flood threat we have been watching.
