With the assistance of Cannon County Sheriff’s office in Tennessee, East Aurora, N.Y. police arrested 45-year-old Walter Harkins, a fugitive and a previous resident of Olean Road in East Aurora.

Earlier this year, Harkins was found guilty of two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. Harkins was accused of showing indecent material to a seven-year-old male and an eight-year-old female.

When Harkins learned of the verdict, he allegedly fled to Cannon County, Tennessee to avoid sentencing. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office then authorized his extradition from Tennessee. Harkins was escorted back to East Aurora from Tennessee by East Aurora Officer Darren Longboat and Detective Rick Daminski.

Harkins was then brought before Aurora Town Justice Jeffery Markello, who remanded him to the Erie County Holding Center pending formal sentencing.
