Cannon County basketball teams will have a busy schedule during the coming weeks due to the numerous make-up games caused by the recent inclement weather.

The CCHS basketball teams already have three make-up games rescheduled and the Cannon County Grammar School Basketball Tournament has been set for the end of the month.

“There is really nothing you can do about it and all the teams (in our district) are in the same shape,” Lionettes Head Coach Michael Dodgen said. “With it being like this the kids have to stay healthy and take care of their bodies. We preached that the entire week we were out because we have several games coming up in a short span.

The CCHS basketball teams will play five games in 12 days, beginning with the make-up game against Upperman at the Lions Den tonight.

“This is when you hope all the work you do in conditioning pays off because we have quite a run in front of us,”Lions Head Coach Matt Rigsby said.

The Cannon County Grammar School Tournament will be played the last week of January with games scheduled for Jan. 25, 27 and 29. All games will be played at Woodbury Grammar and will follow the original bracket as far as seeds and times.

“The elementary school principals met (Jan. 13) to discuss rescheduling games.,” said East Side Principal Karen King, president of the Principal Study Council. “Next week (Jan. 17-22) was not a possiblity with school already out Monday (Jan. 17) and Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled for Thursday (Jan. 20).”
