Cannon Pair Receives Governor's Volunteer Award

The Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA) is an initiative from Volunteer Tennessee that seeks to recognize outstanding volunteers from each of Tennessee's 95 counties. With the program now in its twelfth year, participating counties conduct a call for nominations and recognize one outstanding youth and one outstanding adult volunteer. The Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards also recognizes one business and one non-profit from each of Tennessee's three Grand Regions for their outstanding community involvement and service.
The 2019 Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards took place in Franklin, TN on February 9, 2020, to honor and celebrate volunteerism in Tennessee. Jennifer Kraus, NewsChannel 5's Weekend Morning Anchor was the Master of Ceremonies.

2019 Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards Cannon County Youth Honoree was Kiley J. Hughes of Auburntown. Kiley is a regular volunteer and active member of Auburn Baptist Church and 4-H. Kiley is the daughter of Derrick and Cassandra J. Hughes.

2019 Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards Cannon County Adult Honoree was Suzanne C. Springer of Woodbury. Suzanne is actively involved with the Cannon County Senior Center where she volunteers her time as Exercise Instructor and Board Treasurer. Ms. Springer also coordinates "Santa's Workshop" in partnership with Woodbury Grammar School; and, assists with various fundraisers. Honorees are pictured with Van Hilleary, representing Congressman John Rose, and Kerri Arnold, Miss Tennessee Volunteer 2019. Congratulations to these outstanding volunteers!
