NASHVILLE - Over 90 newly certified law enforcement officers will graduate from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 during a ceremony to be held at the Al Menah Shrine Temple (1354 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN).

Among the graduates will be Deputy Dylan Couch of the Cannon County Sheriff Department.

"The choice to pursue a career in law enforcement means dedication and a willingness to serve others," said TLETA Director Brian Grisham. "I congratulate the students of Basic Police School Class 1836 for choosing to pursue a rewarding career that enables them to serve and protect Tennessee communities."

TLETA's Basic Police School course provides technical and tactical expertise in addition to the ethical and professional standards of law enforcement necessary for success. The newly certified officers will join thousands of law enforcement officers who have studied at TLETA during its more than 50-year existence. As Tennessee's premier law enforcement training facility, TLETA has trained over 21,000 officers in basic recruit schools since 1966.

Graduates of Basic Police School Class 1836 will serve the following police departments (PD), sheriffs' offices (SO), and state agencies:

Austin Peay State University PD, Bartlett PD, Bedford County SO, Cannon County SO, Coffee County SO, Columbia PD, Crossville PD, Dickson County SO, Dickson PD, Eagleville PD, Fairview PD, Germantown PD, Hamilton County SO, Hardeman County SO, Hendersonville PD, Henry County SO, Hickman County SO, Jackson PD, Kingston Springs PD, Lake County SO, LaVergne PD, Lewis County SO, Lewisburg PD, Madison County SO, Marion County SO, Marshall County SO, Maury County SO, Metro Nashville Airport Public Safety, Moore County SO, Mount Pleasant PD, Murfreesboro PD, Perry County SO, Pikeville PD, Robertson County SO, Rutherford County SO, Smyrna PD, Springfield PD, Tipton County SO, Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Tennessee Department of Revenue Special Investigations, Tennessee State Parks, Trousdale County SO, Wayne County SO, White House PD, Wilson County SO, and Winchester PD.

Tipton County Sheriff J.T. "Pancho" Chumley will be the graduation speaker.

The next Basic Police Schoolclass begins April 1, 2018.
