Cannon County Under Flood Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Cannon County until 3:45 p.m. this afternoon.

As of 10:30 this morning no flooding, downed trees, road damage or structure damage has been reported from any areas of the county, said Faye Morse, Director of the Cannon County Emergency Management Agency.

"Our main concern, at this point, with the ground already saturated; and as the streams and low lying roads continue to receive rain and run off, we could see problems with our school buses and other afternoon and evening traffic, Morse said.

"Fortunately (for us), our major streams and water problem areas flow out of Cannon County into Rutherford, Wilson, and DeKalb. In the Southern areas of the county and the plateau region areas, water backs up at culverts, small creeks, and bridges; as the flat areas do not have the same drain off outlets as other portions of the county.

"Normally our major problems areas in these types of rain are the Readyville, Bradyville, Woodland/Midway, East Side/Centerhill, and Woodbury areas; their draining potential is somewhat slower than other areas," Morse added.
