Cannon County Pee Wee Football Lions Take On Smith County

Cannon County little Lions traveled to Gordansville to take on the little Tigers of south Smith County. It all started around 10 a.m. with the 5,6 and 7 year old
little Lions starting the day.

It didn‘t take long for the Gordensville little Tigers (GT) to get on the scoreboard. Two plays from scrimmage resulted in a long touchdown run for GT, the extra point attempt failed
and GT lead 6 -0.

Cannon County little Lions first drive resulted with a fumble on the third play from scrimmage, with GT recovering. Both teams swapped fumbles with GT taking their fumble recovery on a scoring drive of
5 plays. Again the extra point attempt was no good. leaving GT up by the score of 12-0

Later in the second half GT had a quick drive of 4 plays and a score. With the extra point attempt good this put GT up 19-0.

Cannon County finally had a 14 play drive with Brady Bryson going the final 15 yards on a sweep around the left end for a touchdown. The extra point was no good leaving the final score 19-6.

The 8 and 9 year old Lions put up a little better of a fight but the end results were a loss. It was a hard fought contest with more offense from this group than the younger Lions. But in the end this age group also came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

The last game had the 10 and 11 year old Lions trying to get a win for Cannon County. It started off with GT getting the ball to start the contest. Two plays into the drive saw Bo Bryson of Cannon County shooting through the offensive line of GT to strip the ball from a Gordansville running back, but GT rcovered the ball. The GT drive ended up being 14 plays, with a pass for a touchdown. The extra point was no good.

Cannon County took the ensuing kickoff and ran 3 plays and elected to punt it away on 4th down. IT took GT two plays to score another touchdown. Again the extra point was no good. Cannon County took the next kickoff and ran 4 plays, electing to go for it on 4th down. the play saw a pass from Brady Paige to Jake Walkup come up short of the necessary yardage needed for the 1st down.

The next GT drive started with a 10 yard loss created by Bo Bryson. GT went for it on 4th down and again Bryson had a tackle for a 5 yard loss. Cannon County went 4 downs and out. GT wasted no time getting on the score board again with a long towuchdown pass, with the extra point good. 19 - 0 Gordanville up at the half.

The 2nd half the lions came out more determined and executed a 14 play drive with hard running by Paige, Walkup and Collin Anderson. Once again a good drive ended with a turnover.

The game ended with both teams stalling drives with penalties and turnovers and the lions taking the loss. It was a well played game with improvements over the previous week.
