Cannon Co. unemployed rate drops
Staff Cannon County's jobless rate continued to drop during the month of April with 4.8 percent of the county's workforce unemployed. The jobless rate was down .08 percent from March's rate of 5.7 percent and was down 1.8 percent over April, 2013. Davidson and Knox counties had the state’s lowest major metropolitan rates in April, both at 4.7 percent. Davidson was down from 5.5 percent in March and Knox was down from 5.6 percent. The Hamilton County April rate was 5.6 percent, down from 6.7 percent in March. Shelby County was 7.1 percent in April, down from 8.4 percent in March. Both Tennessee and the U.S. had April unem-ployment rates of 6.3 percent, and both were down from 6.7 percent in March. Cannon was one of 15 Tennessee counties that recorded a jobless rate of less than 5.0 percent. Coffee County recorded 5.1 percent for April, while McMinnville's rate was 6.4 percent.
