Solid Waste Department
announces new hours
Due to budget cuts imposed by the Cannon County Commission, the Solid Waste Department must reduce some services extended to the public. Starting Monday November 21st, the Cannon County Convenience Center will have new hours of operation.

Saturday 7A-5P
Only household waste will be accepted at the Convenience Center. There will no longer be any building materials accepted or cardboard pickup provided. Please make note of any changes.

Flags for Sale
The American Legion Post 279 in Woodbury is selling flags and
accessories. The monies raised from the sale of these flags goes 100% back to our Community, our Youth and our Veterans, in Cannon County. This is an on-going project. We have available an assortment of all sizes and all types of flags - United States Flags, State Flags, Military Service Flags; and all sizes of flag poles.
The United States Flag 3'x 5' nylon is $25 (best price
anywhere). This is our most popular flag. The United States Flag 4"x 6" is .50 each or $5 a dozen for special occasions. The military services/branches flags are $30 each. For that special display. We can get you any State Flag, different size flags and different
size flag poles, (small house flag poles to large business flag poles.) WE ALSO HAVE INDOOR FLAG SETS. FLAGS FOR ALL OCASSIONS. If you need to make a special order, call and we have a catalogue available to make your selections.

Music Night on Thursdays
The Pocahontas Community Center, located near Ivy Bluff, will be having a music night every Thursday at 5 p.m. We welcome all musicians who would like to come and play with our group, beginners or pros. Lions Club Pecan sale continues
The Woodbury Lions Club continues the annual Pecan Sale. For sale this year will be pecan halves, walnuts, fruit and nut mix and cashews.
All of these products will be available at the following locations: Jennings Jewelers, Vance Bros. Car lot, Farmers Co-op, the County Court Clerk's office, Cannon Senior Center, Dr. Trea Wessel's office, First Bank, Paul Reed's Furniture Store, First National Bank, Regions Bank, Woodbury Funeral Home, Woodson's Pharmacy, Cutting Edge Salon and from any Lions Club member.
Profits from this fund-raiser goes toward purchasing eye glasses, eye exam, eye surgeries, special equipment for the sight impaired, hearing exams, and hearing aids for local residents who cannot afford for pay for such on their own or with the help of their insurance.

"WEDDING DRESSES THROUGH THE DECADES"
6th ANNUAL AWARD WINNING EXHIBIT PRESENTED BY
OAKLANDS MANSION
January 21-March 5, 2017
Stories of our community will come to life through wedding gowns on display at Oaklands Mansion, where every dress tells a love story. Step back into time and experience the common threads that weave together the lives of women as we explore women's history, fashion history, cultural history and the history of our community. Over fifty gowns will be placed on loan and exhibited, most for the first time. The "Wedding Dresses Through the Decades" exhibit in Maney Hall at Oaklands Mansion will take place from January 21 through March 5, 2017. Featured this year is the 1967 gown of Barbara Mandrell, which was handmade by her mother, and the white naval uniform worn by her husband, Ken Dudney. In addition, Barbara's 25th Anniversary renewal silver lace gown worn in 1992 will be on display. It was made by Emmy Awarding Winning American fashion designer, Bob Mackie. He was the costume designer for Carol Burnett on The Carol Burnett Show and its spinoff, Mama's Family. The exhibit will be open daily, Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is $10. per person and is open to the public. This exhibit is sponsored in part by the Human Sciences Department of Middle Tennessee State University. United Way Seeking Collection Sites
for Annual Community Baby Shower Drive
The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and the Rutherford County Health Department are set to collect essential baby items for expectant and new mothers beginning January 10, 2017, through February 3, 2017. The items will be sorted and baby bags will be assembled on February 10, 2017, at the Community Baby Shower Sort-a-Thon, presented by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
This year, the United Way has a goal of 500 baby bags to be distributed to families in Rutherford and Cannon counties. Focusing on one of the United Way's priority community issues, healthy beginnings, the bags contain essential baby supplies for a healthy start in life.
Items needed to complete the baby bags include: diapers, onesies, baby wipes, bottles, and blankets (new items only for newborn - 6 months old).
