Candlelight Vigil For Brian Kite Saturday

The Cannon County Courthouse will be the setting for a candlelight vigil Saturday night in remembrance of Brian Mark Kite.

The vigil will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.

Kite's body was found in the Stones River just off Highway 53N on October 18 of last year.

He had been reported as missing by his family 10 days earlier. A recent graduate of Cannon County High School, he had left his home the night of Oct. 8, 2011 to attend the Homecoming game with his girlfriend.

Although it has been over a year since his death, an official cause has yet to be announced. Law enforcement officials say an autopsy has not been completed.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist the Cannon County Sheriff's Department in the investigation.

Officials said at the time Kite's body was discovered that it appeared he had been deceased for some time, and that no signs of aggression were noticeable.

However, some family members believe that Kite was the victim of foul play and continued to press local and state officials for information and a more thorough investigation.

Kite's family and friends continue to maintain a Facebook page in his honor.
