Brenda Mullinax Seeks The Office Of County Trustee

Brenda Mullinax Seeks The Office Of County Trustee
The Cannon Courier has been authorized to announce the candidacy of Brenda Mullinax for the position of Trustee of Cannon County in the August 5th General Election.

I am a lifelong resident of Cannon County, and the daughter of the late Willie Clarence and Beatrice (Pitts) Bryson of Auburntown. In 1968, I married Jerry W. Mullinax and we will celebrate 42 years of marriage in July. Jerry and I have one son, David, and he is married to Angela (Tate) Mullinax, and we are the proud grandparents of Laney Mullinax. We are members of and have attended the First Baptist Church in Woodbury for many years.

Prior to being employed in the Trustee’s Office, I worked for the Chromalox Company in Murfreesboro as a payroll officer, then moving into Accounts Payable, Data Processing, and Inventory Stock Control. I then worked in the accounting departments of Cumberland Swan (now Vijon) and United Service Equipment Company.

In 2004, I began working as the full-time secretary to the current Trustee, James E. Maxwell, and am currently still employed in this position. During the six years I have worked in the Trustee’s Office, I have had “hands-on” experience with the many duties and responsibilities of this office. I am familiar with all the county departments that this office is required to serve - I have experience in dealing with the payroll warrants and expenditures of the various county departments - I have had experience in assisting those apply for tax relief - I am familiar with the various ledgers and receipt books that must be accurately maintained - I have assisted many people who are seeking “title searches” - I have had experience with written and oral communication in regard to various loan companies, banks, State Departments, etc. - I have had six years of experience in assisting the current Trustee in collecting, receipting and recording the yearly county taxes - I have attended several tax seminars at various locations throughout the State - Recently, the State has mandated that the Trustee’s Office purchase one computer for the filing of the tax relief applicants. This will become effective as of July 2010, and I will have the opportunity to become experienced with this new computer program.

I would very much like to continue to use all my experience to serve the citizens of Cannon County as the next Trustee. I want to express my sincere appreciation to Trustee James E. Maxwell and to every citizen of the county for allowing me to work in the Trustee’s Office for the past six years. I am asking for you to consider my qualifications and experience before you decide who to vote for to serve in this important office for the next four years. Please consider that of the eight candidates seeking this office, I am the only one who has had six years of experience working in the Trustee’s Office!

I will appreciate your vote and hope to see as many of the county voters as possible before the August 5th Election. However, with my working full-time, I will be limited as to the time I will have to campaign for this office, so I am using this political announcement to ask for your Vote and Support!
