Break-Ins Reported To Sheriff’s Department



The Cannon County Sheriff’s Department is investigation two recent break-ins.

The first break-in was reported on Feb. 11. It occurred at a location on Cooper Hollow Road. The property owner told the investigating officer he had not been to the location in three weeks and when he arrived on that day he discovered someone had broken into his garage.

The owner said he had a chain across the driveway which had been cut.

Items reported missing includes a weedeater, toolbox with an assortment of tools, gas can, four ladder tree stands and a game camera.

Total value of the items was reported as $1,393.23.

The second break-in was reported on Feb. 15 at a Toy Denny Road residence. The homeowner reported that when he came home to eat lunch on that date his 42-inch flat screen HD television was there. He said when he came home that evening it was gone.

The homeowner showed the investigating officer the back door to the residence. There was evidence that the door, along with the door going from the utility room to the kitchen, had been kicked in.

According to the complainant the TV was the only item missing from the residence, although the bedroom had been ransacked.

Photographs were taken of the bedroom and the doors. The doors appeared to have been kicked with some type of work boot. The officer noted in his report that the motive for the break-in appeared to be the same as a break-in at a nearby location on McMahon Road.

The TV was valued at $700 and the damage to the door facings was estimated at $400.
