Betty Mathis Markum

Betty Mathis Markum, 55, died Monday, August 2, 2010, at her home from a sudden illness.

She was born in Cannon Co. on December 1, 1954.

Her parents were the late William "Bill" Mathis & Mary Elizabeth Stanley Mathis. Her husband was the late Frank Markum. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Mathis

She is survived by 3 daughters, Brenda (Anthony) Elkins, Misty (Phil) Long & Christy Markum (Michael Thomas) all of Woodbury; 2 sons, Barry (Theresa) Markum & Billy (Kim) Markum all of Woodbury; 2 brothers, Billy Joe (Kay) Mathis & George David "Peanut" Mathis both of Woodbury; 5 sisters, Jean (Troy) Murphy, Alice Davis, Joyce (Jim) Weiss, Ruth (Ricky) Murphy, Mary Ellen (Billy) Carmack all of Woodbury; sister-in-law, Ruby Mathis of Woodbury.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A member of the Church of Christ, she was a homemaker.

Visitation with the family is 4 pm till 9 pm Tues.; 8 am till 9 pm Wednesday; and 8 am till time of services on Thurday.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday with Bro. Norman Pelham officiating. Interment will follow in the Centerhill Cemetery.
