A 42-year-old Beech Grove man was arrested by the Cannon County Sheriff's Department after a possible methamphetamine lab was discovered inside his car.

Arrested was David Ray Kashola of Beech Grove who was charged with initiation of methamphetamine by Investigator Brandon Gullett. Additionally, he was charged with driving on a revoked license and was held for an active warrant out of Coffee County.

Deputies Emily Beasley and Zach Smith initially responded to a report of a man asleep in Honda Accord parked on the side of William Bryant Drive just off of Sunny Slope Road. The car was still running when the officers arrived.

Beasley and Smith awakened the suspect and asked him to turn off the engine and step out of the car.

"The man identified himself as David Kashola and stated that he was waiting on his friend to meet him," the officers said.

A check of his drivers license revealed it was revoked.

"Several suspicious items were found in the backseat of the vehicle in question," Deputy Smith reported. "Jars of un-labeled liquids, piping and un-labeld bags of powder."

Once that discovery was made the deputies notified Investigator Gullett who responded to the call. Gullett discovered chemicals, lithium batteries and aluminum foil and other items used to make meth.

"Upon arrival I was shown a green bag sitting behind the passenger seat the rear floorboard of a gold, Honda Accord," Gullett said. "A one gallon jug of Muratic acid was visible sitting on top of the bag."

Three-fourths of the jug was empty. Tubing and other materials were also discovered, he said.

"A clear bag of crystal substance (tested) positive for methamphetamine," Gullett said. "Kashola admitted to purchasing pseudo for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine."

A check with Coffee County investigators indicated that Kashola had been busted with a meth lab in about a month earlier.

A hearing date was set for April 4 in Cannon County's General Sessions Court.
