Auburntown City Council Swears In Fletcher, Invites Patrick To Join

The Auburntown City Council met October 6, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. for their regular monthly meeting. The Mayor and all council members were present, except Ruby Jo Davenport, Tina Fletcher who was sworn in as a Councilperson at this meeting.

The minutes of the September Council meeting were approved as presented.

The treasurer’s report was given by Rita Davis which showed a balance of funds in the amount of $44,094.66.

The Mayor reported that the contract to run utility water up Hurricane Creek Rd. was awarded this past week. The contractor should be able to start work in the next two to three weeks -- just as soon as all the “paper work” can be completed.

Frank Patrick was present and was given an invitation to become a member of the City Council. He willingly accepted the invitation and is to be sworn in at next month’s meeting.

Chris Blackburn, Fire Chief, was present and gave the Council and update and general overview of what is taking place in the Fire Dept. The Mayor and Council members expressed their appreciation for these timely and informative reports.

The Mayor expressed his and the entire Council’s sadness at the passing of Robert Clark Davenport. He was the husband of Council member, Ruby Jo, and we extended to her our heart-felt condolence and support during this time of one of life’s saddest events.
