Ash Sentences Three To Prison For Various Crimes



Judge Don Ash presided over Cannon County Circuit Court on Friday. Some of the results from the various cases which appeared on the docket included:

Phillip Shaffer’s application for suspended sentence was denied by Judge Ash. He was ordered to serve his entire sentence. At a previous hearing, Shaffer pled guilty to the charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and received a 1 year prison sentence. Shaffer also pled guilty to driving while license revoked. He received a 6 month sentence to the county jail and was also ordered to serve that sentence.

Steffan Brady’s application for suspended sentence was partially granted. He was ordered to serve 1 year in prison and then the balance of his sentence will be spent on supervised State Probation. At a previous hearing, Brady pled guilty to the charges of aggravated burglary and three counts of burglary of an automobile. He received an effective prison sentence of 4 years. As a condition of probation, Brady will be required to pay restitution and the court costs.

Matthew G. Edwards was continued for a suspended sentence hearing on February 11, 2010. As a condition of his continuance, he will be required to enroll in Bradford Health Services within 2 weeks. If he does not comply, his bond will be revoked.

Christopher Ferrell’s application for suspended sentence was denied by Judge Ash. At a prior hearing, Ferrell pled guilty to the charge of felony possession of marijuana and received an 18 month prison sentence.

Jeremy Sissom was continued until March 4, 2010. He is charged with violation of probation.

Joshua Dishman’s application for suspended sentence was partially granted. He was ordered to serve 1 year in prison and then the balance of his sentence will be spent on supervised State Probation. At a previous hearing, Dishman pled guilty to the charges of aggravated burglary and three counts of burglary of an automobile. He received an effective prison sentence of 4 years. As a condition of probation, Brady will be required to pay restitution and the court costs.

Octavious Smith’s suspended sentence hearing was reset until March 4, 2010. He has entered a guilty plea to the charge of felony possession of marijuana.
