Appropriations and Property Tax Rate Approved By Commission

The Cannon County Schools will get a penny more of the property tax appropriation after the Cannon County Commission passed the 2021-2022 fiscal year appropriations and set the property tax rate during their recessed meeting Tuesday night.
The property tax rate stays set at $2.46 with the schools getting 69.5 cents of the rate up a penny. The schools will use the money gained from the small increase to give raises to their non-certfied employees which totals around 200 people.
The budget will allow also for raises for the county employees setting all employees outside of elected officials on an hourly scale and doing away with the current salary scale.
