Judge Susan Melton presided over General Sessions on Tuesday.  Some of the results of the various cases that appeared on the docket included:

Kenneth Franklin Anderson pled guilty to domestic assault.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 33 days, 10 months 26 days on probation and paying the costs.  In another case Anderson pled guilty to evading arrest.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 33 days, 10 months 26 days on probation and paying the costs.

Carey Dwayne Jones pled guilty to driving on a suspended license.  He was sentenced to 6 months in jail.  That sentence was suspended upon equal time on probation, paying a $50 fine and the costs.

Stephanie Michelle Mooneyham agreed to the violation of her probation.  She was ordered to serve 60 days and her probation was extended 21 months 7 days.  In another case Mooneyham pled guilty to driving on a suspended license.  She was sentenced to 6 months in jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 2 months and extending her probation 4 months.

Brian Lee Prater pled guilty driving on a suspended license 5th offense.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was suspended upon equal time on probation, paying a $250 fine and the costs.

Benjamin Casey Roberts agreed to the violation of his probation.  He was ordered to serve his original sentence of 11 months 29 days.

Dustin Ray Rogers pled guilty to evading arrest.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was suspended upon equal time on probation and paying the costs.

James Lewis Sherburne pled guilty to driving on a revoked license.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was suspended upon equal time on probation, paying a $200 fine and the costs.

Lee Douglas Suydam pled guilty to domestic assault.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 44 days, 10 months 15 days probation and paying the costs.

Zackhary Eugene Dixon's charges of passing a worthless check X7, aggravated burglary, theft over $10,000.00 and criminal trespass were bound over to the next term of the Grand Jury.

Ernest E. Hill IV's charges of aggravated burglary, theft over $500 and vandalism over $500 were bound over to the next term of the Grand Jury.

Burglary reports

A Hurricane Creek home was burglarized. Among the items taken were a 20-gauge over and under shotgun, a Sears .22 caliber rifle with scope, three fishing rods, a weedeater, and electric drill and a safe.

A number of power tools were taken during a burglary on Dickens Hill Road. Missing items include a powered miter saw, a Dewalt sawsall, two light fixtures, two hammers and two Skil saws.

Arrests

Ms. Jimmie Young was charged with criminal trespass after she refused to leave the home of her grandson on Osement Road.  

Arrested on violation of probation charges were Blake Burton, Mellanie P. Richardson, Jennifer Stone, Joshua Allen Underwood, Dustin Lee Alsup, Lavon L. Nunnery, Teresa Ring, Justin Elledge, Melissa D. Wilmoth and Cynthia Taylor.

Jonas N. Jones was charged with aggravated assault.

Joshua Early was charged with failure to yield, driving on a suspended license and with failure to meet financial responsibility after a near collision with Deputy Michael Hainey on Jim Cummings Highway.

Gerald McCandless was charged with driving on a suspended license, unlawful possession of a handgun, a light law violation and with failure to meet financial responsibility after a traffic stop on West Main Street.

Deputy Michael Hainey stopped McCandless who was driving an older model Chevy pickup without visible tail lights. Approaching the truck, Hainey discovered that the truck had dark black plastic covers over the tail lights. A small baby was a passenger in the vehicle.

Hainey explained his reason for stopping McCandless and asked to see his license, registration and proof of insurance.

At that time, McCandless informed the deputy that he was carrying a loaded handgun. Hainey secured the pistol and ran a check of  the suspect's drivers license which returned as suspended. McCandless did not possess a Tennessee handgun permit.

The baby and the vehicle were released to Heather Johnson and McCandless was transported to jail.

Arrests

Gabrile Wayne Chavez was charged with driving on a revoked license by Patrolman John House. A hearing is set for Sept. 24 in General Sessions Court.

Andrew Jacob Bobo was charged with hindering a secured creditor. A hearing is set for Sept. 24 in General Sessions Court.

Hannah Raye Duggin was charged with vandalism of a picnic table by Patrolman Trace Stoetzel. A hearing is set for Sept. 24 in General Sessions Court.

Jordan C. Martin, Tara C. Boling and Terri K. Ortkiese were charged with possession of a Schedule II drug, morphine, and wilth possession of drug paraphernailia  following their arrest by Patrolman John House. Hearings are set for Sept. 24 in General Sessions Court.
