Thursday night, the Lions and Lionettes traveled to Tullahoma for their second “Hall of Champions” game. The Lionettes, again, got off to a slow start. Cannon finally got on the board when Lauren Ruehlen scored 4 points, putting the Lionettes ahead at the 5:24 mark. This started a 15-0 run which ended with Cannon ahead 17-3, with 1:45 left in the first.
The Cannon full court defense led to 7 second quarter turnovers by the Lady Wildcats. Sissom added 7 points to her first half total of 13, as she led the Lionettes to a 31-13 first half lead.
The third saw Sissom put up 10 points followed by King with 4, as the Lionettes continued to pull away from the Lady Wildcats, taking a 47-24 lead.
The fourth quarter was all defense. Cannon held Tullahoma to under 10% shooting and 2-points as they finished off the 58-26 victory.

In boy’s action, the Lions jumped out to an 8-4 lead with 2:45 remaining in the first quarter. Colin Jones led the way with two 3’s, but a determined Wildcat team fought back to take an 11-8 lead by the end of the quarter holding the Lions to under 20% shooting from the field.
Cody Ruehlen hit two 3’s in the second quarter, while Jared Nave added 4, keeping the Lions close to a much larger Tullahoma team. Cannon was able to stay within 7 points of the Wildcats as the first half came to an end trailing 30-23.
Tullahoma went on a 9-0 run midway through the third quarter to take a 44-25 lead at the 4:15 mark. Despite T.J. Mitchell’s 7 points in the quarter, the Lions found themselves trailing by twenty, 53-33, with 1:38 remaining in the third.
Cannon went on an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter cutting the Wildcat lead to 10, 57-47, with 5:53 remaining. With the help of Andrew Woodin and his 7 points and 2 blocked shots, the Lions were able to cut the score to 7 points with 2:04 left in the quarter. The Lions were unable to get any closer as they fell 72-62 to the Wildcats.
The Lions season record now stands at 1-1, with the Lionettes standing at 2-0. The Lions and Lionettes will host their first home game Monday night against Coffee County at 6:00 p.m.
