Mr. Ronald Charlie Abner, age 77, of Woodbury, TN passed away August 8, 2026.

 

His funeral was held August 18, 2026 in the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home of Franklin, GA with Rev. Neil Awbrey officiating, and eulogy by John Marshall. Interment followed in Welcome Methodist Church Cemetery (Roopville, GA).

 

Ronald was born February 16, 1949 in Heard County, GA to the late Frank Amos Abner and Grace Inez Pike Abner. He was a member of Glenloch Baptist Church (Franklin, GA).

 

He was a graduate of Heard County High School (Class of 1967). He always attended class reunions and enjoyed keeping up with his classmates through the years. Following high school, he earned a degree from what became known as Southern Polytechnic State University. He worked for many years for the Georgia Department of Transportation as an engineer.

 

He dearly loved his family. He was married to the love of his life, Sharon Marshall Abner, for forty years until her passing in 2013. He enjoyed seeing Broadway plays with his daughter. He also had a soft spot for animals and adored his rescue cat, “Beanz”.

 

He was known for his outgoing personality and never met a stranger. A car enthusiast to the bone, he loved traveling to car shows and seeing the latest hot rods. He also liked to spend time outdoors and go fishing.

 

Survivors include: two children, Chris Abner (Rebecca) of Jacksonville, FL and Heather Laflamme (Tim) of Smyrna, TN; eight grandchildren: Thad Abner, Lydia Mitchell (Titus), Josiah Abner, Naomi Abner, Evangeline Abner, Christian Laflamme, Justine Laflamme, and Kaylee Laflamme; and a number of other relatives and friends.
