Catherine Irene Cavender Woodson, 98, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026 at her home in Woodbury. Born in Bemis, TN., she was the daughter of the late Jesse T. Cavender and Tommie Parrott Cavender. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thomas Woodson, Jr. and her siblings, Bill Cavender, Jesse Cavender, Ruth Peavyhouse and Myrtle Matthews.
Ms. Woodson is survived by her children, Diana Lynn Woodson of Woodbury, Susan Carol Woodson of Mechelen, Belgium and Tommy (Gina Rene) Woodson of Manchester; grandchildren, Cat Bingham of Woodbury, Ben (Ashlyn) Chapman of Shelbyville and Rachael Chapman of CO., great grandsons, William, Jackson and Jacob Chapman; brother, Robert Charles Cavender of Knoxville and her caregiver, Lisa Sissom.
The Woodson family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their love and care for their mother.
Ms. Catherine was the oldest member at Woodbury First United Methodist church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing the piano and working outside in her flowers. Her and her husband, Joe, owned Woodson's Pharmacy for 63 years. Most of all, she loved being a mother and "mama Cat" to her family.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Malesus Ebenezer cemetery, 140 Medon Malesus Rd., Medon, TN. 38356, with Bro. Billy Smith officiating.
