Hello, my name is Norma Knox and I am proud to announce that I am seeking re-election as your Trustee in the August 2nd County General Election. I am a lifelong citizen of Cannon County, Tennessee and reside in the Readyville Community with my husband, Joe. Joe and I have been married 31 years and have two children, Luke, 28 and Alex, 20. My father was the late Jack Barrett and my in-laws are Willis and Faye Knox of Readyville.
It has been a privilege to work in the Trustee office for the past eight years, and I was honored to be elected as your Trustee four years ago. The Trustee's office has a very important role in our community. We serve as the Treasurer for all county funds, including receiving funds from the State and Federal Government, as well as collection of all county funds, including Property and Public Utility Taxes. Our office makes a full accounting for all county funds, is responsible for reconciling all county accounts, and makes investments for all idle county funds. We supply monthly reports to all county departments to insure their individual accounts are reconciled with their accounts in our office. Additionally, we supply the county commission with all county fund balances on a quarterly basis.
Experience within the office and continuous training on our state laws is crucial to running our office. During my term as your Trustee, I have attended all Middle Tennessee Trustee meetings, which includes updates and training on any changes in Tennessee law. I am currently the Vice President of the Middle Tennessee Trustee Association and have completed the County Officials Certificate Training Program. These programs have allowed me to keep current on the laws of our state, the accounting procedures for our office, and the administration of our office.
My knowledge, training, and experience have given me the ability to handle your money in a professional manner, in compliance with the laws of our state, and with the dignity you demand from your Trustee.
