Ace Is Not The Place For Shoplifting

A Woodbury woman was arrested last week after allegedly shoplifting items from Ace Hardware.

Paula Davis, 1058 Hollow Springs Rd., Woodbury, has been charged with theft under $500 and also simple possession of drugs.

On Aug. 5, 2010, Ace Hardware phoned the Woodbury Police Dept. and advised that they had a shoplifter.

Chief of Police Tony Burnett responded to the call. Upon arrival the manager pointed out Paula (Kronnick) Davis to Burnett, according to the incident report.

The manager stated that he had observed her on video take copper fittings and place them in her pocket book which was fairly large. Chief Burnett approached Davis and asked for her purse, which appeared to be bulging and very heavy.

When Chief Burnett looked in the purse he observed a large amount of copper fittings. He placed Davis under arrest and asked the manager to determine the dollar amount of the items, which was $232.93.

Upon emptying the purse a cigarette cellophane was found containing 10 small green tablets believed to be Valium 10 mg. Davis also identified the tablets as Valium.

Davis said she did not have a prescription for the drugs and could not remember where she got the prescription filled, or where she got the prescription. She was also charged with simple possession of a controlled substance.
