Cannon County Sheriff's officers recently filed charges against three people in two separate incidents involving Honda vehicles.

• Detective James Davis and Deputy Eric Moss were patrolling on Gassaway Road on Feb. 12 at approximately 10:20 p.m. when they observed a vehicle in front of them cross over into the oncoming lane of traffic. They initiated their emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle on Cavender Road.

The gold Honda Accord was driven by Bransen Chase McLaughlin and was also occupied by Jeremy Sissom.

Sheriff Darrell Young arrived on the scene and the officers were given permission to search the vehicle by McLaughlin.

A loaded .38 revolver was found underneath the passenger seat and there was also a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine found in the vehicle.

McLaughlin and Sissom were arrested and transported to the Cannon County Jail. Upon arrival, a pipe used for smoking marijuana was found hidden in McLaughlin’s pants.

McLaughlin was issued a warning ticket for failure to maintain lane of travel and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Sissom, a convicted felon, was charged with carrying a handgun as a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Feb. 11 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Deputy Eric Moss, Sheriff Darrell Young, Investigator Anthony Young and Detective James Davis were dispatched to 95 Martin Drive in reference to threats being made.

Upon arrival, they began to speak with two male subjects in the front yard. While speaking with the two subjects, Detective Davis detected the odor of marijuana coming from one of the vehicles in the driveway.

Detective Davis ran the canine around the vehicles in the driveway and the dog alerted to two of the vehicles, a black Honda Accord with and silver Impala. Both vehicles were searched and 5.2 grams of marijuana, .9 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found.

Terry Lynn Burger, of Woodbury, stated the narcotics and paraphernalia belonged to him. Deputy Moss issued Burger release citations for simple possession of a Schedule II drug, simple possession of a Schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. Initial court date is March 1.
