4-H Plans Homeschool Program, ATVRidercourse

Home School 4-H - If you are a parent who is home schooling their child and are interested in being involved in 4-H, then plan to join us on Friday, September 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodbury Lions Club Building for our first meeting of the Cannon County 4-H Home School Program. At this meeting we will be enrolling everyone in 4-H and discussing our year’s worth of activities, programs, and contests.

ATVRidercourse - If you are an active 4-wheeler rider, or are looking to be one in the future, the ATVRidercourse is a hands-on exciting way to learn how to ride in a safe, responsible, manner.

The course is administered and sponsored by the ATV Safety Institute composed of the major manufacturers. There is a course scheduled on Monday, October 10th, if you are interested in participating please call the 4-H office at 563-2554, to get all the information.

Chick Chain Show and Sale - Don’t forget, the 2011 4-H Chick Chain Show and Sale will be held Tuesday, October 4th on the Courthouse Lawn, with the show beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the sale immediately following the show.

This year we will have around 23 sets of 6 red sex chickens for sale, these are quality chickens known for their prolific egg laying capacity. This year we have a record number of chickens who are already beginning to lay eggs!!!

Please remember that all of the proceeds from the show and sale goes to fund the program for future years. In case of rain, the show and sale will be held at the Expo Center in the fairgrounds.

October 4-H Clubs - As in the past, we will kick off our 4-H club year in the schools beginning in October. At our first meeting, we will be enrolling our 4-H members, going over the public speaking contest which will take place in November, electing officers, and reviewing our 4-H yearbook. I am looking forward to seeing everyone for another great 4-H year.
