4-H News: County Bread Baking Contest May 17



4-H Camps - Don’t miss out on the opportunity to have a great time, make new friends, and make memories that will last a lifetime at Junior and Junior High 4-H camp. Please find information regarding both camps below, our junior camp only has spaces for 12 more campers.

Junior High Camp - will be held for 7th and 8th graders at the Clyde York 4-H Center in Crossville. While at 4-H camp campers will enjoy traditional camping activities such as rifle and archery range, the swimming pool with water slide, and other activities designed for Junior High Youth.

The dates for Junior High Camp will be May 31st through June 3rd. Payment and Registration deadline for Junior High Camp is Thursday, May 12th at the 4-H office. Also, grant opportunities are available for 4-Hers whose parents/guardians are active Military personnel to attend Junior High 4-H Camp.

Junior Camp - will be held for 4th through 6th graders at the Clyde York 4-H Center in Crossville. While at 4-H camp 4-Hers will enjoy a week of fun and excitement. They will take advantage of all camp has to offer such as rifle and archery range, huge waterslide and pool, put-put golf, wildlife center, catfish pond, canoeing, kayaking, and much, much more. Junior High camp will be held June 20th through 24th. Payment and Registration deadline for Junior High 4-H Camp is June 6th at the 4-H office.

County Bread Baking Contest - One of our most popular 4-H contests is always the bread baking contest. Our county bread baking contest will be held on Tuesday, May 17th at 6:00 p.m. at Auburntown Elementary School. Entries will be taken at 6:00 p.m., with judging and awards beginning shortly thereafter. The categories for the county contest will follow the same format as the local contest which are as follows:

4th Grade – Chocolate Chip Cookies

5th Grade – Biscuits

6th Grade – Cornbread

7th Grade – Banana Nut Bread

8th Grade – Sweet Muffins

The rules for the contest are simple; just bring 3 items of the respective item, they must be homemade (no mixes, etc.), and remember that display counts and everyone who participates will receive an award.
