X-County competes in Mid-State tune-up
Wednesday, October 15, 2014 10:21 am By TONY STINNETT, Courier Sports Editor The event welcomes many of the top teams in the Midstate, regardless of classification, as a tune-up for the TSSAA Regional Oct. 23 in Cookeville. Cannon County's girls finished 12th out of 33 schools participating. Hannah Whited led the way for the Lionettes with a 41st-place finish out of 218 runners. Whited ran the 5,000-meter race in 20:22.8. Cannon County's top three girls each finished in the top half of the field, which included many of the state's top Class AAA runners and schools. Erin McReynolds finished 59th overall and was second for Cannon County with a time of 21:10.8. Elva Magana was 87th overall with a 21:40.3. Hannah Faulkner continued her consistent senior campaign with a 127th-place finish. She had a time of 22:31.0. Whited, Magana and Faulkner have all competed in the TSSAA State Tournament as individuals. Kristen Hale (166, 23:25.9), Sarah Hickman (202, 25:08.9) and Alayna Reed (211, 27:04.6) also competed for Cannon County. Cannon County's boys finished 19th out of 49 teams competing. Central Magnet was the only team in the region to finish ahead of Cannon County. Senior Jake Burdick finished 132nd overall with a time of 18:14.3 and continued his strong campaign. Cannon County's boys and girls will have their final tune-up for the postseason when they participate at the Webb Invitational Thursday (Oct. 16).
